206 Series Version 2 Tail Rotor Blades

VHA engineers are continuously working on ways to improve our products, and recently they turned their attention to our popular 206 Series tail rotor blades.

What’s New

The 206 Series Version 2 tail rotor blades (P/N 2062200-501) feature the following changes and improvements over the original (P/N 2062200-101/-301):

  • Full-length carbon fiber spar
  • Redesigned tip for better impact protection
  • Fifth tip balance weight for more precise balancing at the factory
  • Full-length abrasion strip for root coverage
  • Increased service life (from 5,000 to 5,500 hours)
  • Available from VHA and its distributors

Benefits Retained from the Original

The redesigned blade kept its most essential structural and material elements from the original, including the same laminar flow airfoil and shaped tip, resulting in higher performance compared to metal blades:

  • Greater tail rotor authority, especially at higher altitudes
  • Greater lift capacity (206L operators can use the expanded charts in the VHA-issued FMS)
  • Quieter overall compared to the metal blades
  • Reduced pedal fatigue for pilots
  • No new equipment needed for installation, tracking or balancing

The 206 Series Version 2 (2062200-501) tail rotor blade is interchangeable with the 2062200-301 tail rotor blades. A -501 and -301 can be installed and balanced on the same tail rotor hub.

Features

  • FAA STC/PMA certification for most 206/OH-58 models (see model list below)
  • 5,500-hr service life (more than double the life of the OEM blade)
  • Additional lift capability for 206L series (see FMS for each model on Documents page)
  • Efficient NASA RC(4)-10 laminar flow airfoil
  • Composite corrosion-resistant construction: carbon fiber skin, foam core, titanium root fitting
  • Electroformed nickel abrasion strip delays erosion effects
  • 40% reduction in overall aircraft noise per FAA acoustical testing compared to metal blades
  • 15% reduction in centrifugal force resulting in reduced pedal forces
  • Stainless steel pitch bearings minimize unscheduled field maintenance occurrences
  • Lightning protection mesh
  • Tail rotor diameter, chord and weight same as OEM blade
  • Thickness .101 inch thinner than OEM blade

Dimensions

Length – 29.9 inches
Chord – 5.25 inches
Thickness – .55 inches
